The
Xacti HD700 adopts the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format for high-compression
recording. The resulting files are small in size, which makes
them easier to handle and lets you record more minutes of high-quality
video. Compared to DVD (MPEG-2), files are about half the size,
yet picture quality is the same or better. The HD700 can also
connect directly to a large-screen 16:9 HDTV and render images
of such high quality that you can clearly see individual strands
of hair and highly detailed patterns.
Note: For HD movie playback, an HD-compatible
TV is required.
For movie recording, the Xacti HD700
employs a digital image stabilizer capable of accurately discerning
unintentional camera shake from deliberate camera movements,
such as pans and tilts. It corrects for unwanted shake without
sacrificing the natural feel of recording clips.
Note:
Using the
electronic image stabilizer may change the angle of view.
The Xacti
HD700 incorporates a high-performance 5x optical zoom lens with
a maximum aperture of F3.5, allowing distant subjects and people
to be captured beautifully. Up to 60x zooming is possible when
the optical zoom is augmented by the 12x digital zoom.
In high sensitivity
mode, its possible to shoot down to such low illumination
levels as 5 lux. This enables you to record images by candlelight
or in other intimate, low-light scenes.
A large 2.7-inch wide
TFT LCD monitor is built into the compact body. It enables you
to see and confirm images before and after shooting. The monitor
itself rotates approximately 285 degrees. It can be adjusted
to suit your preferred shooting stance, whether youre
shooting at a high or low angle, or aiming at yourself.
Closing the monitor while the Xacti
HD700 is turned on automatically puts it into stand-by mode.
Then, once the monitor is opened, the HD700 starts up and is
ready for shooting straight away. By allowing you to skip the
usual on/off process, the HD700 delivers easy viewing and fast
shooting.
The 48 kHz, 16-bit,
2-channel sound of AAC-LC (MPEG-4 Audio) matches the realism
of your HD movies. Thanks to our original low-frequency restoration
technology, the Xacti HD700s noise-reduction system minimizes
noise caused by wind during shooting. The HD700 also features
an external headphone terminal.
