Thanks to its high-speed CMOS sensor and newly developed high-speed processor, the FH1 can achieve high-speed shooting at up to 600 fps. Kids, pets, or sports scenes that are usually too fast to catch can be viewed in slow motion on this camera. Slow-motion playback is also very useful for checking your form at various sports.
Note: Video recording resolution in Web-SHR mode is 448 x 336 pixels at 1/4 speed, and in Web-UHR mode it is 192 x 108 pixels at 1/10 speed. Continuous recording time is approx. 10 seconds (with no sound). During video recording, it is not possible to record photos or operate the zoom function. Focus and exposure control is fixed and the digital image stabilizer cannot be engaged.

The VPC-FH1 employs Sanyo’s original advanced zoom function for video shooting. This function enlarges the video image shooting area on the image sensor from approximately 2 megapixels (as on a comparison model, the VPC-HD1010) to approximately 5 megapixels. This way, the camera makes more effective use of the available pixels and can achieve expanded wide-angle (44.1 mm) and telephoto (710 mm) shooting comparable to that captured by 35 mm film. This wide zoom range expands your scope for shooting.
Note: In Web-SHR and Web-UHR modes, only 10x optical zooming is available.

Conventional noise reduction methods are applied to video images one frame at a time. On the FH1, however, the noise-reduction feature also compensates for signal noise in the preceding and following frames, resulting in higher quality video images even when shooting in the dark.

The VPC-FH1 is able to detect your subjects’ faces instantly. Even if the faces move, the FH1 can follow them and adjust the focus and exposure to match your central subject. The Face Chaser function has been developed so that it can even follow faces from a side-on angle.
Note: Depending on the subject and shooting conditions, face detection may not operate as expected.

For beautiful full high-definition video recording, the FH1 reduces the effect of the camera shake that typically occurs when you zoom in on a subject. SANYO’s original digital image stabilizer is capable of automatically distinguishing between unintended camera shaking and deliberate pans and tilts.

Brightness on the FH1’s wide-screen LCD monitor can be adjusted to any of seven levels. Also, the monitor can rotate through approximately 285º, so you can easily position it at your preferred angle. This lets you keep your subject clearly in view, whether you’re shooting high, low, or at yourself and your kids.

The VPC-FH1 is always ready to shoot. Because it records onto a solid-state SD memory card—rather than HDD or DVD media with moving parts—you can start shooting immediately after opening the monitor.

The FH1 offers the convenience of editing your videos on the camera itself. You can easily splice multiple short clips into a single video, or cut unwanted footage. By deleting unneeded clips, you can make more effective use of your SD memory card’s capacity.
Note: If the available SD card memory is low, you may not be able to perform editing operations.

To capture the atmosphere of a scene and bring it to life with CD-like audio quality, the FH1 records 16-bit, stereo MPEG-4 Audio (AAC-LC) at 48-kHz.

The FH1 employs advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression technology that makes it easy to save and play back files on a PC.
