Tokyo, June 17, 2009 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) is pleased to announce the launch of two high-resolution high-brightness projector models, the LP-WTC500L on July 21, and the PDG-DET100JL on August 21, 2009.
The PDG-DET100JL is compatible with high-resolution SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) and has the highest brightness in its class*1 at 7,500 lumens. In addition, 'DICOM Simulation Mode'*2 precisely reproduces medical-related high-resolution data which makes it ideal for use at medical education institutions.
The LP-WTC500L is compatible with high-resolution Wide XGA (1,280 x 800 dots) and has a high-brightness of 5,000 lumens. Its 'Lamp Selection System' automatically selects one of the two installed lamps to project from, enabling the lamp replacement interval to be twice as long as conventional one-lamp models.
Both projectors feature 'Picture-in-Picture Mode' and 'Picture-by-Picture Mode' for projecting two images simultaneously, thus broadening the range of presentation options.
These projectors will be displayed at the InfoComm 2009 in Orlando, Florida, from June 17 to June 19, 2009.

Main Features
1. High-resolution SXGA+ -compatible, and Highest brightness in its class*1 at 7,500lm
'DICOM Simulation Mode'*2 makes it ideal for use at medical education institutions
(PDG-DET100JL)
- Achieves the highest brightness in its class*1 at 7,500 lumens, featuring high-resolution SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) and Twin Color Wheel System using two UHP 330-watt lamps, with greatly increased light output efficiency.
- Capable of projecting images approximated to DICOM Part 14 (grayscale standard display function) via 'DICOM Simulation Mode'*2, one of the display settings, a format standard for digital imaging and communications in medicine.
- Projects X-ray pictures clearly and precisely; making it ideal for use in medical education.
*1 As of the time of sales on August, 2009, for the PDG-DET100JL - a 2-lamp SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050 dots) 1-chip DLP® projector
*2 DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is an international standard for digital imaging and communications in medicine. This product is not a device for medical diagnosis. Do not use this product for actual medical diagnosis.

2. Compatible with High-resolution Wide XGA, High brightness of 5,000 lumens
'Lamp Selection System' for about 6,000 projection hrs*3 without lamp maintenance
(LP-WTC500L model)
- Achieves a high brightness of 5,000 lumens and a high contrast of 3000:1 with one lamp projection by high-resolution Wide XGA (1,280 x 800 dots) and a new optical engine with an inorganic panel.
- The 'Lamp Selection System' automatically*4 selects one of the two installed lamps to project from, making approximately 6,000 hours*3 of projection possible, or about twice as long as conventional one-lamp models.
- The 'Lamp Selection System' has two different modes to choose from:
1. 'Alternating Mode'-alternately uses the two lamps
2. 'Relay Mode'-uses one lamp until recommended lamp replacement time, then switches to other lamp.
- Since the second lamp is already loaded, if one lamp fails, important meetings and presentations can be seamlessly continued without stopping to replace a lamp, in addition to reducing maintenance cost.
*3 When Lamp control "ECO1" mode is selected; the replacement time is a general estimate.
*4 Can be manually switched.

3. 'Picture-in-Picture Mode' and 'Picture-by-Picture Mode' enables simultaneous projection of two images, making it ideal for television conferences etc. (Both models)
- 'Picture-in-Picture Mode' and 'Picture-by-Picture Mode' can project two images simultaneously, allowing two sources to be viewed to introduce a product or point.
- 'Picture-in-Picture Mode' displays a sub-screen on the main screen, and the location can be precisely set*5 according to needs.
- 'Picture-by-Picture Mode' displays two images on one screen side-by-side, allowing people on a television conference call to see the presenter and the presentation at the same time.
*5 ['Picture-in-Picture Mode': Sub-screen Display Location]
- PDG-DET100JL: Can be placed anywhere
- LP-WTC500L: Can be placed in one of the four corners: upper left /upper right / lower left / lower right

4. Other Features
[Both the PDG-DET100JL and LP-WTC500L]
(1) 'Active Maintenance Filter' System enabling a filter life of 35,000 hours (the longest in the industry*6) for the PDG-DET100JL and 13,000 hours*7 for the LP-WTC500L.

(2) 'Vertical 360-degree Tilt Angle Projection' allows projection on the ceiling, floor, etc.
(3) Enhancement of Installation versatility by 'Power Vertical/Horizontal Lens Shift' function & 'Lens Center Layout' symmetrical design

Outline and Background
For 2009, the volume of shipments to the global market of high-resolution projectors with a brightness of 5,000 lumens or more and compatible with Wide XGA or higher is estimated to be equal to that of last year, and it is forecast to grow approximately 1.5 times each year from 2010 onward (according to company forecasts).
In recent years, there is a growing need for large-screen projection in certain specialized fields, such as digital signage and design/CAD. With the expansion of the market, higher resolution and higher brightness are in demand.
The PDG-DET100JL is compatible with high-resolution SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050 dots) and has the highest brightness in its class*1 at 7,500 lumens.
